Our Phantom/Rothbrix Brown, Loose Review

Made by V2 Tobacco in Silkeborg, Denmark, to the same high standards that snus in Sweden is made, Phantom Classic Brown is classified as a coarse ground snus which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, coarser ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer no matter if you use a tool or hand shape it. The first prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for over 2 hours while the hand shaped prilla lasted a little less than 2 hours before it began to fall apart but the flavor could have lasted much longer! Each can of Phantom Classic Brown loose contains 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 8 mg per gram. The can is made of black plastic with the Phantom logo embossed in the glossy plastic lid but, you’re here for the flavor, not the can so, let’s take a look at Classic Brown’s flavor! V2 is known best for their unique and intense flavors and Phantom Classic Brown is no exception! While Classic Brown’s flavor is purely tobacco and salt, the tobacco has some pretty unique characteristics. What we taste are the typical earthy flavor that all tobacco is known for but there is a peppery note along with hints of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. There is a school of thought that says it’s not a good idea to smell Swedish snus due to the Ammonia smell that’s a part of the process but, With Phantom Brown, the scent is of dark chocolate and no Ammonia smell what so ever! Another truly unique quality of Phantom Brown but, this is what we taste. We’d like to know what you think as well!
