Go back Our Odens Extra Stark Kanel, Loose ReviewIntroduced to the snus world in 2009 and made by Gajane, Oden’s Extra Stark Kanel (cinnamon) loose is classified as a coarse grind type which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, coarser ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape longer no matter if you use a tool or hand shape it. The prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for over 2 hours before it began to fall apart. The flavor lasted just as long with no signs of stopping! Each can of Oden’s Extra Stark Kanel loose contains 45 grams of snus and a Nicotine content of 17 mg per gram. This doesn’t mean 17 mg per prilla because a prilla can range in size depending on the user. Oden’s Extra Stark Kanel’s can is the same black plastic that Gajane uses for the portion version complete with the Oden’s logo embossed on the lid and plastic and foil label but, you’re here for the flavors, not the can so, on to the taste! Oden’s Extra Stark Kanel’s flavor is pretty unique in the sense that it’s the only Extra Stark loose that is cinnamon flavored. Well, Oden’s regular strength Kanel is another one but Gajane is the only manufacturer to flavor a snus with only cinnamon, tobacco and a touch of salt! The cinnamon flavor in Oden’s Extra Stark Kanel is strong but not overpowering. The cinnamon flavor actually mixes with the tobacco and salt to give Kanel a mellower flavor than its portion type. Unlike most things flavored with cinnamon where the cinnamon tends to overtake anything it’s mixed with, Gajane uses just the right amount of it to allow you to tell it’s a cinnamon flavored snus while letting you taste the tobacco. There is a burn in the lip though with Oden’s Extra Stark Kanel. This we attribute to the cinnamon and the large amount of Nicotine in the snus and it pretty much there for about an hour. It’s not an intense burn and is actually pretty enjoyable! While this is what we taste, we want to know what you taste! I tried out a fairly wide variety of loose snus, having just transitioned from the dark side (American dip). Out of all the varieties I tried, I found this one to be the most enjoyable. My favorite brand of dip was Kodiak, because it was both strong and would pack nice 'n neat. I have to say that I preferred this for the same reasons, with one addition: It actually tastes very good. I think the cinnamon is quite subtle, and with snus you can actually enjoy the taste of the tobacco.

I was so excited to get this in my most recent order. I ordered a variety of about 10 different brands, and I could not stop thinking about trying this cinnamon delight out. But, I am about halfway through my can and I have to force myself to use this, which is a real bummer. The cinnamon flavor is very nice and natural, but I feel it is lacking either a sweet or salty undertone(Can't put my finger on which would be better). And the lack of that has me getting cotton chops after about 40 mins. I will definitely give this another chance(I only got one can, maybe it was a little off). But, I do encourage you to try it! It is definitely NOT terrible. It also gums up my IceTool requiring me to rinse it with warm water after every use. I personally give this a 3/5.

Just got a can of this in the mail today. I have a prilla of this in now. Very good snus, its a very mild cinnamon flavour. I haven't noticed a major nic hit but I do use extra sterks all day so i have a very high tolerance. Overall great snus, decent burn and good mellow flavour. I'd rate it a 4.5/5.

This isnt no heartfelt sh*t, or sugar and spice kinda cinnamon.
You can leave that to Catch... This is quite mild, but what cinnamon taste there is is more "real" cinnamon that some sweet or weak flavour. It is easily formed, and has a good strong hit. I prefer the los of this variety to the portion.

Smells like redhots in the tin, taste is mild however. Nic hit is strong. I don't like the really rough cut here though, its rough on the gums and takes like a hour to start juicing.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one! Awesome taste and great smell from the can. The tobacco keeps its moisture really well and is excellent quality. It is a bit sticky on the fingers which is why some people have a hard time hand baking but I use a prismaster anyhow. The nicotine is strong and satisfying. The pris stays intact very well too. I really cant find any flaws with this stuff its definitely an all round great product. I find that after a couple days out of the freezer, it has a stronger cinnamon smell and taste. I'd recommend this to anybody but if you cant handle strong nicotine then you'd better bake a small pris

This has become my favorite snus bar none. Nice,smooth tobacco flavor with just a hint of natural cinnamon. A perfect balance!Nic delivery is perfect for my tastes, powerful but does not come on overtly fast. Just a smooth, steady stream of nic flow that lasts and lasts. Does not hand bake the best and would suggest a pis master or icetool if you're a beginner with los.However once a pris is made right, it stays together very well once in mouth.

This would be a favourite strong los for me. It has a kick like a mule, and a good cinnamon flavour. I am sorry I didn't order more of this when I first got it, and will have to wait till I reorder before I can have more.

The cinnamon flavor is just right for me. Not overbearing at all. It is rather difficult to hand bake and makes quite a mess but doesn't stop me from liking it!

It's good tasting tobacco plus it has just about the right amount of cinnamon taste/smell. It could have just a little more cinnamon for me but it's still very good. Of course has plenty of nic for anyone. Like others have said it's a job to bake a pris but don't let that be what stops you from trying this one.

I think I've found a new favorite. This is just absolutely beautiful. The cinnamon isn't too strong but it's definitely there, taking the center stage. It also doesn't taste like chemical cinnamon, but has a natural flavor. Good nic hit as well, great for an ex-smoker. 5 stars.

Simply wonderful, the flavor is amazing and the nicotine hit is intense. The only thing wrong is baking a pris is a little challenging but not even close to enough to deter me from this great snus. 5/5

Probably one of the tastiest loose snus I have in my fridge right now, however it doesn't come without a price. Hand baking Oden's is incredibly hard and takes some time to keep it together. I've found a flat type ball seems like the best shape for me when using this one.

I find the cinnamon flavour quite subtle however it is very nice. Compared to thunder I prefer this. The nic hit from this comes on quite soon but is not overpowering for me. But a 3 section pris made with a 3ml icetool lasts me upto 5hrs!! before I even feel like any more Amazing.

Just opened the can and got done with a pris. It has great cinnamon flavor, and a nice strong nic hit.
