Our Probe Whiskey, Loose Review

Launched in 2001 and made by Swedish Match in Göteborg, Sweden, Probe Whiskey loose was actually released as a loose snus after being released as a portion version which is a rarity in the Swedish snus world! Probe Whiskey is classified as a medium grind loose which means that the tobacco pieces are a bit larger than the fine grind type. This leaves the surface area of each piece larger and easier to mold into a prilla. Also, medium ground snus tends to hold a prilla’s shape better, no matter if you use a tool or hand mold it, but doesn’t last as long. The prilla we tested was made with a 3 ml tool and kept its shape for about 2 hours but, a hand molded prilla lasted about an hour and a half before it began to fall apart but the flavor with either prilla could have lasted much longer! Each can of Probe Whiskey loose snus has 45 grams of snus with a Nicotine content of 10 mg per gram. Probe Whiskey loose’s can is the traditional paperboard can that Swedish Match uses in all of its loose snus brands and the gold plastic lid stays pretty snug to the bottom keeping the flavor and moisture in really well but, your more interested in the taste so, let’s talk about that now! Probe Whiskey’s flavor is pretty unique in the Swedish snus world because it uses Kentucky bourbon as its main flavoring. To date, it’s one of the very few that mixes an American made product in a Swedish snus. The bourbon gives the snus a slightly sweet taste while bringing the herbal flavors out in the tobaccos that are used in Probe. Hints of smoky elements, along with a slight spicy taste of cinnamon and light caramelized sugars from the bourbon, mix with the peppery notes in the tobacco to give Probe Whiskey a well rounded flavor that’s not drowned out by the bourbon. While this is what we taste, we’d like to hear what you taste in Probe Whiskey. Why not add a can of Probe Whiskey loose snus to your next order and leave a review of your own telling us what flavors you taste! We look forward to reading it.

smile:D This IS a great Snus! The whisky flavour is not overpowering in the least. This is a snus that is very easy to bake, it sticks together very well and the prilla holds its shape for a long time. I would recommend this snus to a newbie or a seasoned professional. I only wish that they would make this in a sterk/stark as well. Perhaps one day!

Really nice taste. I ordered 4 different cans for my first order (Ettan, General, Offroad Wintergreen, and Probe Whiskey) and this was definitely my favorite of the bunch. I found the flavor Ettan and General to remind me a lot of tea (which is very nice) but this has that sweet smokey whiskey flavor that none of the others do. Try it!
